Initially visits may be weekly or fortnightly and then extend to monthly which is actually a great sign the program is working as monthly massages are what I would recommend for body maintenance.
There are no lump sum commitments. Simply pay $95 per each one hour session. I have HICAPS and EFTPOS so you can make private health insurance claims on the spot, straight after your session.
I'm Tia Christenson. Before I became a remedial massage therapist, I lead a successful, albeit, stressful, 15 year career as a woman in a male dominated workplace, in conservation land and emergency fire management. I was highly motivated to always do and be my best. I was a proud high achiever that worked hard, trained hard and played hard. In 2014, at the age of 38, I burnt out. I was exhausted, my work productivity plummeted in a job I'd previously excelled at and I was jaded.
Up to this point I'd always managed my stress by eating well, exercising, meditating or yoga, regular massages and compartmentalising my life. If home life was stressful I would find solace in my work. If work life became stressful, I'd find comfort at home. But what do you do if there is no escaping life's stressors at home or work? There was just no fuel left in my tank.
My solution involved 6 months long service leave where I lived anonymously in Paddington, spent thousands on psychotherapy, one month traveling and diving in Bali. I returned refreshed, to full-time work and at the end of 2015 my daughter was born. I took maternity leave and in 2016 returned to work full time in a job I no longer cared for. I advanced to the next level in my career (forced, due to another restructure).
2018/19 was my turning point. I was a single working mum, carer for my Mum and daughter, both of whom had serious medical conditions. I had so many other people that needed me to be strong and well and burnout was not an option so I started seeing a psychologist again, this time to work on building resilience. During this very stressful period I decided I wanted to be part of the solution for this crazy, busy world we live in, so I enrolled in a Diploma in Remedial Massage with Evolve College.
Hello Pandemic 2020! 2020 was an enormous year globally and for me personally. In 2020 I: married my husband on Australia Day, lost my mum to chronic illness in June, graduated with a Diploma of Remedial Massage in July and in October 2020 I opened the doors to the Metta Health and Wellbeing massage clinic.
I now have a slow(er), happy and comfortable life on my grandmothers' farm with my husband, our three children and Ziggy, our border collie. I run the Metta Health and Wellbeing massage clinic and work a couple of days a week in bush fire land management. I still eat well, exercise, meditate and receive regular massages (an essential for my self-care). I've learned how to manage my stress to live my best life, doing the things I enjoy, with the people I love.
